SOUTHLAND BUS STOP

More than a bus shelter, this project includes bike racks for human powered connections, glass panel wind protection, and a living roof for diverting storm water. The design included twisted rebar columns that mimic a tree-like structure leading up to the rain garden roof. The project was financed by the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) program and administered through the Kentucky Office of Local Programs – a program that utilizes federal highway money to fund multi-modal projects that improve air quality and ease traffic congestion.
