Hanover

“PRP combined creativity and elegant design to meet all our needs in an affordable solution that never fails to impress visitors to our home”.

-Peter LaFalce

This remodel / addition is a riff on the Japanese influence on the arts and crafts movement that drove design of the original home. Motorized clerestory windows bring light deep into the addition and ventilate the new space. An office / homework zone is integral to family life centered on the kitchen.

“We’ve worked with PRP for over six years on a variety of Distillery District projects and continue to be impressed with their ability to listen, collaborate and create. From historic to contemporary to forward-thinking green design, their flexbility and attention to detail have made them a vital part of our team. Highly recommend.”

“Pohl Rosa Pohl brought vision and expertise to our project – they were sensitive to our needs and collaborative throughout. Working with them was stimulating. They translated our concerns into three-dimensional solutions, over and over again, with happy results.”

-Marilyn Robie

In 6 separate projects over the course of several years this house was infused with new clarity, elegance, and vibrant energy. Most substantial were the new elevated entry (seen here), kitchen, screened porch and back yard living areas.

Colonial-#2

“I still have a hard time believing the transformation. Your vision to keep things simple made it just what we wanted.”

-Perry Bozarth

A dark interior was transformed by greater visual connection to the outdoors, and the kitchen / family area given new life with joyful colors reflecting the owners’ personalities and preferences.

“Graham Pohl understood perfectly the kind of design we liked, and he converted that understanding into a living space that we continue to love, both for its practicality and its beauty, each passing year. “

-Anna Isaacs

This beach house was developed to minimize site disruption. It is deliberately tall, exploiting exquisite views to a pelican rookery at the National Wildlife Refuge on St. Vincent Island while allowing for a discreet but intimate relationship with the primary dune. Living spaces are extruded between spiral stair and elevator towers.

“PRP architects are exceptionally gifted at understanding their clients and working collaboratively to develop the creative potential of a project.  My home remodel was completed a decade ago, but still each day I draw energy and inspiration from this beautiful and highly livable space that we imagined together.”

-Tom Wade

This formerly central hall colonial was completely reinvented to accommodate a ground floor master suite and a great room allowing for informal contemporary living. The lantern-like front porch brings a ceremonial quality to the pedestrian entry while diminishing the prominence of the garage.

“We thoroughly enjoyed working with Graham on the design of a project that transformed our craftsman-style bungalow. The original home had little visual access to our back yard, but now it is a spacious structure filled with light. We especially appreciated Graham’s ability to turn our needs, interests and wishes into a striking design. Six years after the completion of the addition we still experience it with a sense of newness.”

-Ted Fiedler and Sigrid Suesse

The double height space between old house and new addition boasts a 2 story bookshelf, celebrating the owners’ scholarship and love of books. The upper sections of the bookshelf are accessed from a glass bridge.
