Su Verde (about green) is a single family residence that was designed to strike a balance between the historic design covenants of ‘New Urbanist’ neighborhood while satisfying the needs of contemporary life. High performance construction combined with an open floor plan, generous use of rooftop spaces and daylighting were employed to exceed the requirements of the Passive House and LEED GOLD standards.

Inspired by the Arts and Crafts heritage of the original house and by the Japanese architecture that influenced that movement, this addition and remodel brings light and air to the core of the house.

A comprehensive reinvention of a 1960’s era suburban home into stately, day lit modern home, renovated to accommodate a first floor master suite and a great room allowing for informal contemporary living. The lantern-like front porch brings a ceremonial quality to the pedestrian entry while diminishing the prominence of the garage.
